Production Bible

Every film is unique. No two Production Bibles are alike. Making a complete list that will satisfy every feature would be difficult. Here’s a tip: your production bible you want to keep organised in a binder. Here are some important aspects to consider:

  • Scenes broken down by day, setup, required actors and crew
  • Cast and crew contact info
  • Directions to locations
  • Equipment needed for each setup
  • Catering
  • Production timeline(s)
  • Call Sheets
  • Permits
  • Blank Releases
  • And more

You might have multiple versions, copies, and duplicates throughout the production, but by the end of every production, someone on your team always prepares these reports more neatly and uniformly for the final deliverables. These are important for several reasons:

  • These are used as deliverable items for Distributors & Festivals
  • These are kept on file by the Production Company for their records
  • These are used as a reference for potential reshoots
  • These are used as a reference for future projects
  • The Credits List is used to create the final credits of the film

Release Forms

Release forms protect film and video makers from potential legal trouble, and also set forth the terms and conditions in which the people in the video agree to participate (these people are typically actors in fictional films and videos, and normal people in documentaries).
